Murphysboro - Big Muddy

This project involved the wetland delineation and flood plain evaluation of the cleanup of a manufactured gas plant in Murphysboro, IL. The Big Muddy River is perennial surface water that flows adjacent to the project limits.

2IM was responsible for the floodplain modeling and environmental permitting aspects. This included reviewing HEC-2 models for cross section locations and bridges, other hydraulic structures, and levees that were included in the model. 2IM also identified tree species within areas that were to be removed for site access. Vegetation, soils, and hydrology indicators were collected and identified for wetland delineations.

2IM completed wetland and surface water investigation along the Big Muddy River which resultedin the discovery of the current Illinois State Champion, Sweetgum Tree.
