Environmental Scientist/Engineer II

2IM Group is looking for an Environmental Scientist/Engineer II to join our Environmental Team! This is a full-time position that includes our benefits package (health care, vision, dental, health savings account, 401k, paid time off, paid holidays, etc.).

Duties and responsibilities:

An Environmental Scientist/Engineer II is responsible for applying their knowledge of sciences and natural resources to develop ways to protect the environment and human health, reduce pollution, and remove environmental hazards from the community. Their duties include:

  • Evaluation of sites for the presence of protected natural resources

  • Assessments of industrial, commercial, or residential sites for environmental impact

  • Use of specialized equipment to sample and test soil, water, and air

  • Evaluating current systems and developing innovative solutions to control, fix or prevent environmental problems

  • Reclamation and disposal of impacted water and soil

  • Field observation and oversight of environmental contractors

  • Investigate, record, and compile reports for environmental-related issues

  • Facilitate compliance with waste management and disposal

  • Advise governmental organizations, businesses, and the public on potential environmental hazards and health risks

  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as other Scientists, Landscape Architects, and Engineers, or clients

 

Skills and qualifications:

A successful candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications needed to complete their duties, such as:

  • Problem-solving skills to find the right solutions to environmental issues like waste disposal and impacted water

  • Analytical skills to conduct experiments and draw conclusions by analyzing scientific data

  • Interpersonal skills, as you will be working with different entities for the common good of the community

  • Developing proficiency in project management, cost control, and problem solving

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong scientific background

  • Planning and organization skills

  • A general interest in the environment and the desire to help make it better

 

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, or a similar field such as chemistry, physics, or biology.

  • 2 - 5 years working in the environmental science industry or with a federal, state, or local government entity.

  • Wetland delineation experience is preferred.

  • Experience with GIS software is preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of the health and safety protocols of project sites and knowledge of environmental regulations and field sampling techniques.

  • Proficiency in evaluating and summarizing data and creating reports of environmental conditions.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and design skills.
